What the reading looks at
The leaf's surface
Spots, browning edges, powder, and webbing, each pattern points somewhere different. Fungus reads differently from thirst, and both differently from too much sun.
The plant's posture
Wilt above wet soil tells an overwatering story; wilt above dry soil tells the opposite. A photograph carries more of this than you'd think.
Your notes
Name the species if you know it and the reading narrows: what is normal variegation on one plant is a warning sign on another.
Photograph it well
- Get close. Fill the frame with the worried leaf, not the whole shelf.
- Show both sides of the leaf; pests prefer the underside.
- Daylight, no flash, flash flattens the texture the reading needs.
A reading, not a verdict
The result comes back with its confidence shown, likeliest causes first, each with a treatment attached. When the photograph isn't enough, it says so. And for anything that looks serious, a local nursery's eyes beat any lens.
